How long will my carpet and upholstery take to dry?
Wool and other natural takes a little longer to dry that other fibers, i always quote a dry time of 4 hours although your newly cleaned carpets will be ready to walk on and use and will only be slightly damp on leaving.
Upholstery is towel dried and fan dried, sometimes a fan will be lent to you and collected later.
How long does carpet cleaning take?
For a room approx 4x3 meters (12x9ft) expect up to 1 hour 30 mins from arriving to leaving then a extra 45 mins per extra area.
Which chemicals do you use?
I use a wide range of solutions, the survey i conducted before the clean is carried out is to check not only what can be used on your upholstery or carpet but also to look for environmental issues for example has the customer got any pets or young children which can be sensitive to some ingredients.
90% of cleaning products i use are non-toxic, bio-degradable solutions which outperform old style detergent based chemicals.
Does carpet cleaning kill viruses like hepatitis, covid etc?
I have products which fully conform to EN4476:2013 if needed which can be either over sprayed at the end as part of the clean or used in the clean.
Are you part of a bigger company?
No, i am a sole trader, my name is James and i first started cleaning as a domestic assistant (Cleaner) cleaning the pathology labs, Southmead Hospital in Bristol in the 90's.
Do you like Tea or Coffee?
Either as long as it has cake on the side.
My carpet has some stains are they going to come out?
One of my general cleans will normally removes most spots, sometime stains can be difficult and may need advanced removal, these stains may be subject to additional charges.
My advice is given at the survey stage of the clean is to test stains before with the solution that will be used to clean the carpet to see if they can be removed, at this point i should be able to determine if extra work will be needed, you can make the decision into whether it is necessary to fully remove the stain.
It is also important to consider what is acceptable, some customers are happy to live with a red wine stain underneath a table in the corner of a room but not in front of a fireplace.
How do you know what my carpet is made from?
There are two types of test to determine what your carpet is made from, normally a small fiber is removed from around a radiator pipe and a burn test is preformed.
Another way is a float test where a tuft of fiber is placed in some water to see if it floats.
Are your online quotes and estimates accurate?
Quotes online are normally 90% accurate, if i have under quoted online you have the option to cancel the clean on site immediately.
online estimates can change slightly, but i always discount the extra and you will only pay approx 50% of the extra cost.
for example if a online estimate is £50 and the job has been described correctly online by the customer but it should cost £100 the cost will not exceed £75.
Have you got a day rate?
Yes, i have commercial and domestic day rates call me on 07452895464 to discuss it may be cheaper to have myself on a day rate then pay for a bespoke job.
Do you do free estimates?
Yes i do, they have to be in a 5 mile radius of BS15 postcodes.
Do you work weekends?
Yes, although extra charges may apply.
Do you use professional equipment?
Yes, i use equipment from Jaguar, Ashbys, Host, cleanfix, Victor, Sebo, Nilfisk, hi-lite and other professional cleaning suppliers i do not use domestic or equipment you can hire like rug doctors, bissells etc.
Do you move furniture?
It is better if the customer moves all the furniture to make the areas as clear as possible.
Although i will move small sofas, chairs, desks and small tables i never move anything of any value e.g TV cabinets, desks with computers on and beds these can ether be cleaned around or removed by the customer.
If you have a lot a furniture in a room that does need a carpet clean i can arrange a company to remove all the furniture and place it back in place after at an a extra cost.
Pet problems, stains and fleas etc.
most solutions i use will remove stains and correct problems caused by pets.
one important question i ask at the survey stage is "why are you getting your carpets and upholstery cleaned?"
Then all issues are addressed in the clean.
Do you need access to water and electricity?
Yes both, i estimate that the cost of cleaning carpets in a 3 bed house is probably around £5 in electricity and water.
What happens to the dirty water?
the dirty water needs to find its way to a treatment plant for recycling, it can either be poured down a toilet or a drain at your property that connects to the sewage system. It should never be poured down a storm drain in the road.
What method of carpet cleaning do you use?
Mostly Rinse Extraction (hot water extraction, Steam extraction its known under various names) for most carpet and upholstery jobs.
Some customers like low moisture options these can also be preformed and can be covered under the survey.
Are you trained?
Yes i am fully tried by Solutions of Cornwall they run NCCA approved training courses.
Can i cancel at any moment?
I always advise cancelling as soon as you know you cannot keep to the booking, i do appreciate 48 hours notice, although i do know that things happen and sometimes this cannot be done. To rearrange a booking i will need to take a 50% non refundable deposit via bank transfer that is lost if a further rearrangement is made or if the booking is cancelled.
Are you insured?
Yes, treatment risk, Public liability and key loss.
When do i pay you and how?
Payment is taken in full at the end of the clean by cash or i accept most cards.
